Abstract

Strong natural attractions do not automatically support the development of a tourist destination if accessibility is inadequate. This study aims to describe the tourism potential of Bukit Ollon, analyze its accessibility conditions, and identify the gaps between the two. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method that involves observation, interviews with five informants, documentation, and a literature review. The findings indicate that Bukit Ollon possesses strong natural attractions, including hills, valleys, grasslands, and the Saddang River, which support nature-based tourism activities such as camping. However, access to the site remains limited due to the long distance, unpaved and damaged roads, steep slopes, sandy surfaces, a lack of facilities, limited cell service, and the risk of landslides. The main gap lies in the imbalance between attractions and accessibility, particularly in terms of safety, travel reliability, and navigational information. Therefore, improvements to access should be implemented gradually, with priority given to safety, information, and environmental sustainability.
